The drive was not bad at all. We left SA at about 10 am due to a last minute pediatrician stop. Of course Blake had mysteriously been running fever on and off the couple of days leading up to the trip, so we had to investigate. It was the run-of-the-mill fever virus, so we kept the Motrin and Tylenol going and he was fine.
After a stop in Robstown for BBQ at Coppers we were back on the road by 1:00 and pulling into South Padre at a little after 3. We unloaded and then took the kids down to the beach to walk around and check it out. After showering off, our "topless" children posed for some pics for us.

The dads and the big kids were the bravest when it came to facing the chilly water and the "red flag" waves. We had very strange but good weather. It was very overcast, sometimes a little foggy seeming, but it worked great with kids since it didn't feel unbearably hot and you weren't fried under the sun all day. The water was a little chilly, but you could definitely get used to it.

Overall, it was an awesome trip- one we are SURE to repeat over the years. As a matter of fact, we need to get it on the calendar for next year! Can't wait!
