Big Blowouts!

As promised, here are the pictures from our celebration for the Big Man around here. Hunter is officially 3 and a half. Do not insult him and ask him if he is 3. Clearly, we are at an age where half makes a BIG difference.

Truly, to think he will be 4 in about 5 1/2 months makes me want to cry. How did nearly 4 years pass so quickly? What does that say about the next 4 and the next 4 after that?? It's not even something I can comprehend.

Anyway, before I get ahead of myself and send him to college tomorrow, here are the pictures.

So that was one big blowout around here. Now for another...
Blake went in about 10 days ago and was diagnosed with a double ear infection. Poor baby boy. Being on antibiotics for a week took a toll on his little system and he let me know it... about 4 times in one day, or in other words, 4 outfits in one day. The reason this has any clout to this story is that here we are at the zoo.

I tried to be a good mommy that doesn't care that "it's so hot that when you open the chapstick you leave in your car and it spills and splatters across your lap like hot candle wax" (really did happen) and actually takes her kids to do an outdoor activity. Seriously though, the heat is so brutal here we are nearly in Stage 3 water restrictions. Stage 2 is bad enough and our plants are taking a beating, along with our once-plush grass that is withering before our eyes in this 100 degree inferno called South Texas.

Can you tell that the heat is on my mind?? Here we are at the zoo at the walk in beach area- ok, I cheated and we did the water stuff. But this is basically moments before I realized Blake had just had the 2nd blowout of the day all over everywhere- hence, time to go, fun is over.

Friday, we had a great time playing with some buddies. Here's Blakey and Lukey, or Blake and Luke as they will probably insist on being called down the road. Sweet boys just having a good time.

7 months... and 3 and a HALF

At 7 months old, Blake is getting more and more fun (if that is even possible) and has such a sweet personality. He's always smiling, laughing or making his trademark sounds. He's a hoot!! We still wake up once a night at about 4 to eat for 5 minutes. I can't say I blame him since he's down by 7 each night. He LOVES to take a bath and splash like crazy. He is also a very good eater and must have that baby food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He also is starting to eat the little puffs- he grabs at them and bangs his tray. He usually gets about 1 out of 5 in his mouth. The rest I find are in the seat of the highchair or gooey and stuck to his clothes. He loves his pacifier- no giving that sucker up yet. He is not crawling or moving around on the floor yet, but is a very steady sitter and loves to play on the floor. He just seems content to stay put. No teeth, little bit of hair, big 'ol eyes, he's about 17 pounds almost, very ticklish, has graduated to the big carseat and doesn't seem too thrilled about it, still spits up with the best of em, snuggles with his night night (little lovey blanket) right up against his face and loves it, is crazy about his daddy, loves me too, lights up when he sees Hunter and is following the dogs every move. It's such a fun stage!

I have pictures to be uploaded for the mini-celebration we had for Hunter's 1/2 birthday. Having a birthday 10 days before Christmas, I figure this will become a tradition. Probably will for Blake too- since he's right before Thanksgiving. Anyway, I will get the pictures of the cake we made up here soon. I just cannot believe he's 3 1/2 and he really gets it. He is growing up before my eyes. He started swimming lessons this week and I am so proud of how well he has done. He's a trooper.

It's been awhile...

...and I feel very boring, but here's what we've been doing.

Hunter insisted on getting in the giant storage tub that is filled with miscellaneous stuff (basically stuffed animals that have no other place). He wanted Blake to get in with him, so this entertained them while I organized other things in Blake's room for about 10 minutes.

Blake finally getting the thrill of being in a box.

We were so excited that Summer and Brandon and the boys were in SA for a couple of days. We did our annual dinner out at La Hacienda and the boys had a blast playing together. We got to meet them out at the hotel for an evening of swimming, smores and dinner. We had a great time! We love it when we can get together and the boys don't skip a beat.
Adam and Blake stretching out on the bed before braving the blazing 100 degree heat out at the Hill Country Hyatt.

Hunter, David and Ryan cooling off poolside with a snowcone. Yum~

I've noticed a twinge or rather an enormous, overwhelming sense that Hunter is favoring his daddy these days. While it's completely normal, his seems magnified beyond what I am willing to accept. So, in all fairness, I thought it was time for a little "date night" with my Hunter. It was all his agenda- so we did the train in the park and then dashed over to the movie fee-a-ture for the movie "Up." It was really cute and we indulged in all things movie... a giant popcorn, a Coke for me and a Root Beer for Hunter. He talked big about getting icecream afterwards, but we were sugared out.

We went to the lake this weekend and Blake thoroughly enjoyed the pool. He's fully sitting up now if you can't tell. Yippee!

Oh, back to the Hyatt... all smiles watching the big boys swimming.

...and as icing on the cake, "Happy Early Halloween from the little boy that is officially 3 and a half TODAY!" He insisted on walking around for about an hour in his vinyl Buzz Lightyear costume. Can you say hot??
